Adam Wharton His first start in an England shirt. Slightly sloppy when playing out but his dangerous deliveries posed a danger. A useful game manager available to the manager to have against defensive opponents. Shown a yellow for a rash challenge. Six

The midfielder Crosses from corners and free kicks created chances. Was given room to move down the left flank yet found himself offside as the pass came in shooting positions. Granted a deserved substitution on the hour mark. Six

The star midfielder Played in an advanced role down the right and also did plenty of the hard yards. Demonstrated moments of class and scuffed an effort over. Withdrawn in the closing stages by Rogers, a fellow player, after receiving a caution. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Had the team's best chance before halftime, his strike well saved from Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah staying deep, it fell to him to stretch the play out wide although his balls into the box varied in quality. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. Six

Harry Kane The difference-maker netting seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth finishes in an England shirt. The first a classic close-range tap-in and the second an excellent finish with his head after peeling away away from the opposition. Now 32, he’s only getting better and England have every chance in future competitions when he's in the team. 8/10
