The UK is prepared to move forward with employing the total value of frozen Russian funds to bolster Ukraine's war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the leaders of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and compel Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in strong partnership with the America.

British sanctions have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russian assets since Russia launched its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, previously, resources allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's funds had solely been taken from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their desire to drive progress toward employing the complete amount of the frozen Russian sovereign funds to conclude the conflict.

He stated that further restrictions in the coming days and weeks would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This statement comes after European Union leaders met in Copenhagen previously to debate using seized Russian assets for a 140-billion-euro credit to Ukraine.

Last month, US President Donald Trump urged international partners to take or otherwise use seized Russia's funds, as reported by media sources.

The worth of frozen Russia's assets in the EU is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Moscow executed extensive missile and drone strikes throughout the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in power cuts in significant regions of the capital city, the city, and several other zones.

In a update on social media following the strike, Zelensky commented that the strategic strike focused on civilian and energy infrastructure.

"What is required is not empty words but decisive action - from the US, EU, and the G7 - in supplying anti-aircraft weapons and applying penalties," he emphasized.

"Every sanction decision undermines the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

In the same period, Zelensky stated to reporters he would encourage Sir Keir to join the weapons procurement programme, under which Nato countries buy military equipment from the US to donate to Ukraine.

While applauding the Britain's strong support for the Ukrainian government, he noted it should indicate firmly that it would engage in the initiative, as well as apply further measures on the Russian Federation.
