Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for questions to be asked about his position after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period such as this with results like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
